Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is how the City measures company operations. ESG is superseding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and companies will now be judged by a new set of standards.
ESG is a better measure for socially conscious investors to screen potential investments. Environmental criteria take into account what companies are doing for nature, e.g. how sustainable you are; Social criteria include relationships within and between organisations, suppliers, customers, as well as the communities in which it operates, and Governance looks at the company’s leadership, audits and shareholder rights.
