A year ago (April 2023), we applied to Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) Graduate Internship Scheme.

We had won funding to undertake a project from the Creative Catalyst competition run by Innovate UK. With our ambition to disrupt the events industry and diversify our product offering, but with a skills and knowledge gap in our team, NTU’s fully funded scheme offered an exciting opportunity for us to create SUSSED.

SUSSED is a ground-breaking platform that helps corporate organisations minimise their environmental impact. It does this by accurately measuring the environmental impact of corporate events including providing a verified sustainability report for ESG reporting.

We needed to gather datasets for all areas of an event including venue, accommodation and travel to accurately measure the impact of corporate events.

Introducing Salman, our data wizard.

Salman graduated from NTU’s Nottingham Business School in 2022 with a Master’s in Management and Business Analytics. He was responsible for sourcing data and performing necessary calculations for SUSSED. He worked closely with our web developers from Di9ital. The initial 8-week scheme proved extremely valuable. We soon realised that an extension of Salman’s employment was required to complete the project.

Salman played a significant role in delivering the project. He created a report methodology that works in tandem with the platform. He also introduced us to machine learning to develop a SUSSED score. We are currently applying for more funding to expand the platform from corporate events to the entire creative industry.

Salman has become an invaluable member of the SUSSED and Mocean team and we are excited to see what he will do next. 

SUSSED officially launched in March 2024 and we are excited to see how this can be developed beyond corporate events and rolled out to our clients and later to the creative industries.
